Project Controls Manager

As a Project Controls Manager at Mears Broadband, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing project controls activities for various telecommunications projects. Your role will involve developing, implementing, and maintaining project controls processes and systems to report on financial performance, and ensure project success (within budgetary and schedule constraints). You will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, stakeholders, and other team members to monitor project financials, project performance, analyze data, and provide insights to support decision-making processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Be the resident expert of project financials (Cost, Revenue and Billing) for your portfolio of assigned contracts.
  • Develop and maintain the project controls plan and associated procedures.
  • Implement and maintain financial reporting according to the project schedule, including resource loading, critical path analysis, and progress monitoring.
  • Manage project budgets, track costs, financials (actuals and forecasts), billing, and AP.
  • Monitor and manage project risks, including the identification, assessment, and mitigation of risks and opportunities.
  • Ensure accurate and timely project reporting to stakeholders, including financial summaries, progress updates, cost reports, and risk registers.
  • Lead and mentor a team of project controls professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure project objectives are achieved within scope, schedule, and budget constraints.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to manage expectations and ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Proven leadership and expertise in Project Accounting (financials for cost, revenue and billing)
  • Proven experience in project controls management, preferably in the telecommunications or construction industry.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software, such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or equivalent.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make sound decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with a track record of successfully managing projects, providing financial reports, and leading project controls teams.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices related to project controls and telecommunications project management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field
  • Knowledge of tools and software, such as QuickBase, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar.
